IT ALL MATTERS!

When I look back over my life experiences I recognize how the pieces fit together as if it were some well constructed puzzle. During my moments of reflection what always amazes me is that when I am in the midst of these experiences I do not recognize how they are shaping me or how they are helping to construct the nature of my journey.

What I have come to understand is that these experiences are neither good nor bad. They are events in our existence that make us who we are. They move us closer to our hopes, our dreams and our destinies.

Qualifying these events diminishes the purpose. We are human and it is not my intention to discount the innate emotions that we feel in moments of great despair and joy; however we must move beyond these emotions and continue to travel with purpose.

Our purpose is to affect this universe in a way that will add to the greatness of this life in this moment and for generations to come.

Do not be discouraged by a misstep, do not be carried away by a victory. We are not defined by these moments.

Our legacy is the definition of our contribution to this life.

Haiti Through The Eyes of A Haitian American

In light of the recent tragedy that has taken place in Haiti, I can't help but think about all the lives that have been lost and the numerous families that have been affected. We live in a world were information travels at such a rapid pace and is forgotten just as fast. What does this tragedy mean to Haitians? What does this mean to Americans? How will this affect the world?

I pray this is not is not dismissed as the latest "trending topic" on twitter where there is a swell of concern until the next tragedy happens. The time to act is NOW!

I was so happy to hear that all of my immediate family was safe. However there are still many people missing and lost in the rubble. It is estimated that thousands have lost their lives. My hope is that those lives have not been lost in vain.

Haiti has a rich history, however if your information on Haiti has come through the American or Worldwide media I am very sure you have no idea how rich this history is.

The Haitian Revolution is the only SUCCESSFUL slave revolt in history and established the first republic ruled by black people. In my opinion this is why Haiti has suffered so within the past two centuries. In a world dominated by white supremacy the idea of a black republic ruled by former slaves could not sit well with the more prominent ruling class.

So as a result they paint a picture of Haitian being poor, illiterate and incompetent. That picture is the furthest from the truth. Haitians not only led the revolt in Haiti but also helped to free the Americas and represented a beacon of hope to those enslaved in America during that time. However so many of us do not know this and if we do know this we ignore it, or don't know the significance.

Well this recent tragedy can't be ignored. Haiti has to be set right before anything good can happen on this side of the world. God has spoken.

I expect America and the world to STAND UP and help Haiti. America can no longer turn a blind eye to Haitian suffering and at the same time Haiti must maintain it's autonomy.

"L'Union Fait La Force" translated "Unity Makes Strength" you see this saying on the Haitian Flag and it means more now than ever. This saying applies to the Diaspora and not just the Haitian people. Its time to get UNITED and BUILD!!

In the near future I will be holding a series of events to assist in the rebuilding Haiti. I know they will be successful and its the least I can do. I will be reaching out to many of you and I truly hope that you are able to donate time and or money toward the cause of making the world better.

A Favor For My Favor

WOW!!! A few days ago I experienced something that just left me saying WOW!!!

Let me get right to it. I created a group called "Gods Vision" on the Illinois State Black Colleagues Association site. One of the group members had a powerful experience. She has high blood pressure and has been on medication for some time now. She has been praying and working out, she made a trip to her doctor and he informed her that what ever she had been doing (praying and working out) has improved her health and he can remove her from some of the medication she is on. God is Great!!!

I was inspired by her experience and made a decision to stop smoking. I believe that when I take one step towards God he will take two steps towards me. I go to an event that same night and have a few drinks and I'm buzzing and usually when that happens I want a cigarrette. I am on my way home basically struggling with a decision. Should I buy a pack of cigarettes or should I just go home.

I rationalize that I will go to this gas station that has these butter cookies I like and buy my final pack of cigarettes. So I get to the gas station and grab two packages of cookies and ask for a pack of cigarettes. I hand the cashier my card and he swipes it..as he is doing that I place the cookies in my pocket and wait to sign my receipt. The cashier yells out that my card did not work and I say.."Lets try debit"...I punch in my code and it still comes back rejected. At this point I'm wondering what is going on.

I go home and try to check my balance online and I cant. I call customer service to hear my balance. As I am listening to the automated service I get even more frustrated because right when it says "Your balance is"...it drops the call...so I never hear the number. So finally I call to speak to a live person. Finally somebody picks up and the first thing I ask is if there is something wrong with their system.

He immediately says yes and is confused because it has never happened before. He apologizes for the inconvenience and asks that I got to a ATM to see if my card is working. He holds the line I make it to an ATM and it works.

Now here is the amazing part...The entire system shut down at the same moment I was trying to purchase my cigarettes. Now I know some of you are like "yeah right"...seriously I knew something like that would happen...but I did not believe it enough. I believe even more now.

I mean lets think about this....an entire system where people access their money was shut down for at least 20 minutes....

I took a step towards God when I said I would stop smoking...and he did a favor for my favor when he shut the system down....God Is Great!!!

WOW!!!!

I think its been about a week if not two since the video of Nyoil and Al Sharpton has hit the web. If you haven't see the video you can go here Nyoil and Al Sharpton The significance of this discussion should not be lost. The conversation was very necessary and opened my eyes to many misconceptions people have about Rev Al Sharpton and the movement to reclaim our communities.

NOW is the time to be ACTIVE. Nyoil has increased the Activity of PEMG through hosting his own radio show "Build Sessions" . I like that this show is solution driven. This is not a forum for bellyaching and to talk about what people are not doing. It is a opportunity to connect those who are moving toward the same goal and that is to enlighten and provide knowledge to the people.

Activism, in a general sense, can be described as intentional action to bring about social or political change.

Are you Active?....Be an Active Activist....Create Something be a part of Positive Change.

Recently my buzz has been increasing and it's great to see the results of a consistent work ethic via the internet. However the one thing I need to acknowledge is that this really has nothing to do with me or what I have done when it comes to my career.

I noticed the shift in my experiences when I decided to put my trust in God. In the last few weeks I have been able to establish meaningful relationships within this industry, be in a music video, meet artists who have an impact and build with undeniable legends in Hip Hop. Part of this has to do with my plan, however the greatest influence has been my movement based on the belief that God will allow me to be present and point me in the the right direction when opportunities arise.

Music has such a powerful influence on the psyche of the masses.I understand this. This is why I have chosen to be the voice of enlightenment. I should speak my message as boldly and as deliberately as those who spread a message contrary to mine. This is not a commentary on the state of Hip Hop and how I am here to resurrect it. This is a pledge to the masses that I will continue to be the alternative to that which glorifies negativity.

God is truly directing my path. The challenge is to continue to be obedient and be in tune enough to recognize when the spirit is speaking to me.

I have no apologies for my stance because I seek the kingdom knowing all else will be added on.

I wait in anticipation for divine inspiration, knowing that when I am obedient the desires of my heart will be fulfilled.

God Runs this.

Where is your Spirit?

1 Corinthians 2:12 (New King James Version)

12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.

Those of you that know me know that I have been working to get my spirit aligned properly. I've read many books and I have spoken to many people. What I have found is that in all my investigation, reading and seeking counsel, I am always led back to the bible.

In previous posts I speak about vibrations and finding the right words to keep your vibration on a high level so that you can experience your true happiness. I've tried everything, sometimes it worked sometimes it didn't...at least not the way I wanted it to.

Lately I have been reading the bible and internalizing the scripture to act as a shield against any negativity...and it works..the only thing is that the closer I work to become one with the spirit the more obstacles are thrown in my way.

Just a few days ago I was close to loosing my mind. I mean that in every sense of the word. It was a day filled with despair, loss and desperation. I was beating myself up consistently about the horrible choices I have made, how I could have been a better person and how I wish I had the ability to go back a fix what I have broken. Whats messed up is that this is exactly the frame of thought that had me going crazy. I neglected the scripture, my daily prayer and thanking God for a few days and it showed. I was detached from my spirit..detached from the now worried about what has happened in the past and what can happen in the future.

The scripture above says...and I am paraphrasing...that we have not been given the spirit of the world but the Spirit of God...to know that things have been given to us FREELY from GOD!

This is what we have and in order to stay in his grace we have to stay in the word and embed it in our hearts...the word should be the constant chatter going on in our minds. The scripture or scriptures you choose to memorize and recite should serve as a reminder that we have been given the blessing and it is not separate from who we are. We only have to search as far as ourselves..our spirits.

Now there are a few people out here reading this post who may be passing judgment and feel a particular way about what I am sharing and how it translates into my real life. Let me say this and be extremely clear...I am not perfect...my walk gets stronger everyday by the grace of God and even though you may hate me...I love you.


So...I'll keep highlighting my bible...keep earmarking the pages and find peace knowing that God has blessed us with his spirit and know that hard times are only temporary..a test of my paitience and faith. When the blessing comes everyone will know and recognize that what has been done could have only been accomplished by God.

God is Great.
